SPORE Ethics

As members and ordained ministers of The Spore Foundation, we commit to upholding the sacredness of our mission, the integrity of our work, and the safety of all who gather in our community.

This Code of Ethics serves as a living agreement and spiritual compass for those engaged in sacramental, ceremonial, and communal life within The Spore Foundation.

Sacred Integrity

  • We approach all ceremonies and spiritual practices with honesty, humility, and respect.

  • We represent The Spore Foundation and its sacraments in ways that honor their sacred nature.

Informed Consent and Autonomy

  • We uphold full and informed consent in all participation, communication, and physical interaction.

  • No sacrament shall be administered without clear and voluntary agreement.

  • We respect each individual's autonomy and spiritual sovereignty.

Confidentiality and Trust

  • We maintain confidentiality regarding members' personal stories, identities, and experiences.

  • Ceremonial spaces are treated as sacred containers, not for gossip or judgment.

Appropriate Use of Power

  • We recognize and take responsibility for any positions of leadership or influence we hold.

  • We refrain from exploiting power dynamics, particularly in altered states or vulnerable conditions.

  • Sexual contact or interactions between leadership and members of the church, as well as member to member, are strictly prohibited.

Right Relationship with the Sacrament

  • We treat the sacrament with reverence and never use or distribute it for personal gain, entertainment, or outside the scope of the church.

  • We honor set, setting, dosage, and integration as foundational to sacrament care.

Community Care and Non-Harm

  • We speak and act with kindness, compassion, and direct communication.

  • We do not engage in discriminatory, abusive, or harmful behavior of any kind.

  • We take accountability for our impact and participate in restorative processes if harm occurs.

Ongoing Self-Inquiry and Growth

  • We commit to our own healing, shadow work, and spiritual evolution.

  • We seek mentorship, training, or support when needed.

  • We recognize that we are all in process, and remain open to feedback.

Stewardship and Decentralization

  • We recognize that no one individual owns the medicine or the truth.

  • We practice collaboration, mutual respect, and shared responsibility.

  • We uphold the decentralized and emergent nature of the mycelial path.
